Open Heart Leeds: a Buddhist meditation group

Open Heart Leeds is a Buddhist meditation group based in Meanwood, Leeds. Open Heart meets weekly for meditation and dharma practise. Open Heart utilises practical method aimed at attaining full enlightenment, also known as Buddhahood. Our approach is modern, suited for modern lay people yet is based on ancient principles. The OH system of meditation was founded by our teacher Kim Katami in 2008. Sessions are Thursday 7-9pm at the address below. Cost is donation.

Sahil Sefer Warsi will shortly be back from the US and will be leading the Leeds Nur Ashki Jerrahi sufi events. These will consist of prayer and zhikir (chanting) and dua (personal petitional prayer) and reading aloud from sufi classics and Lex Hixon's "The Heart of the Qur'an". Why Meditate? – Exploring Modern Secular Mindfulness

An opportunity to explore why mindfulness and meditation might be useful for stress reduction ; looking at what mindfulness offers, changing our relationship to thought and developing awareness, kindness, acceptance and patience with intrusive thoughts and daily difficulties. There will be led meditation practises and a friendly tea break. There is an opportunity to attend our regular Quaker House tuesday evening drop ins after this event.

Higher States of Consciousness in Buddhism & Beyond

Many traditional global spirituality traditions, including Buddhism, advocate calm abiding or practises of tranquility. If we practise consistently over time we may notice deepenings of consciousness.
